Opportunities for Affordable Housing

LION Affordable Housing is a lending track of the Local Investing Opportunities Network (LION) of East Jefferson County. Through it, we connect local investors with local borrowers who need financing to secure or create affordable housing in Jefferson County, with emphasis on housing for the people who work here.

LION members lend their own money, on their own terms. LION is not a fund and does not pool money or make collective decisions. Each loan is an agreement between a borrower and one or more members. Loans generally run from $5,000 to $75,000, with repayment under ten years and interest rates typically between 5 and 6 percent. Borrowers bring something of their own to the project, whether sweat equity, cash, land, or other assets.

If you are seeking a loan to create affordable housing in East Jefferson County, we want to hear about it. Any person or persons with a well thought out project and a clear plan to repay can apply. Please complete the
Affordable Housing Opportunity form and submit it to lion.housing@L2020.org.

*If you are borrowing as a business or nonprofit, please submit a Business Opportunity application instead. To understand what members look for and how the process works, please read Applying for LION Housing Funding: What to Know Before You Start.
